HAND & WRIST

HAND:
Hand strength testing is frequently used for clinical decision-making and outcome evaluation in evidence based medicine. It is used to diagnose diseases, to evaluate and compare treatments, to document progression of muscle strength, and to provide feedback during the rehabilitation process. In addition, strength testing is often used in areas such as sports medicine and ergonomics.

There are many exercises for the hand to help with forearm pronation and supination, finger extension, thumb opposition, and more.

WRIST:
The wrist is essentially a double row of small short bones, called carpals, intertwined to form a malleable hinge. Overuse can cause RSI and arthritis.

The wrist curl is a weight training exercise for developing just the wrist flexor muscles of the forearm. It is therefore an isolation exercise. Ideally, it should be done in combination with the reverse wrist curl to ensure equal development of the wrist flexor and wrist extensor muscles.
Wrist curls can be performed with a dumbbell or with both hands holding a barbell.
